Upper Limits
the only Indoor Climbing Wall in the Staffordshire Moorlands

Upper Limits is the only Indoor Climbing Wall in the Peak District National Park. Located in the village of Longnor it is an ideal location for recreational climbers and groups from the surrounding areas.

Outdoor climbing at Longnor

The Building is one of 2 former industrial units, one houses the Honeycomb Project, the other is Upper Limits. Both are situated in grounds that also contain a low ropes course, problem solving activities and a cultivated garden area.

The building was professionally converted to provide a wall suitable for the complete spectrum of climbers from absolute beginners, to those who want a comprehensive training facility. The movable holds mean that the wall can be regularly re-set to ensuring that there is always a fresh challenge.

The centre has been open since October 2002 and has already been used by over 500 local climbers as well as scores of people who have attended courses and activity days.

The centre is managed by Mark Dennison who is a keen climber, cyclist and kayaker with NGB awards in all disciplines and national rankings in some sports.

We are living proof that size doesn’t matter! The building isn’t very tall so understandable we couldn’t build a very high wall! However this means that if you’re experienced we have no problem with you not using ropes and as for the climbing, well it’s as hard as you want to make it! You might only see them as boulder problems but they’re great for improving technique. We have several overhanging walls, one feature wall, as well as a slab that is brilliant for kids and beginners!

The wall has proved a good training facility as it is used by many nationally ranked climbers including the current under 16 British Champion.
