Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies

This existing Foundation Degree is a qualification which has been designed for practitioners who are currently employed (either paid or voluntary) in an early years environment. The Foundation Degree builds on your work experience and will involve support from your employer via a mentor.
Units Studied
Study Skills, Current issues in Child Health, Child Development and Young Children Learning, Early Years Curriculum Play, Planning and Assessment for Quality Provision, ICT to Support Children's Learning, Safeguarding and Promoting Children's Welfare, Diversity and Inclusion, Introduction to Managing People and Resources, Making Sense of the World, Communication Literacy and Numeracy.
How the course is assessed
The course is assessed on work based activities including: presentations, essays, case studies and portfolios.
What next?
Successful students may progress to an honours degree in Education, Early Childhood Studies or Health & Social Care. Further study gives access to Early Years Professional Status, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), social work and a range of other qualifications.
