Derby University logo On 1st August 2012 Leek College merged with the University of Derby to become part of its Division of Further Education. From September 2013 everyone joining as a first year student on the Foundation Degrees and HNC’s delivered at Leek College will be studying on awards validated by the University of Derby. It is expected that the subjects offered will be similar to those we currently deliver and full details will be posted in the near future.

Foundation Degree in Contemporary Art Practice

Aimed at those who wish to add to earlier educational or relevant work experience across a broad range of art, craft and design practice, this Foundation Degree may include painting, sculpture, ceramics, crafts, textiles and photography.
 
The course covers visual studies, contextual studies, development of critical skills and the skills required to run a small art, craft or design business.
Students have access to the art department’s wide range of resources as well as newly updated cross-college learning resources such as the library and IT based learning.

What next?

This course is equivalent to the first two years of a full BA (Hons) degree. Successful students may progress to a BA (Hons) in Entrepreneurship for the Creative and Cultural Industries at Staffordshire University or other Art Degrees dependent on interview.

Entry Requirements

If you are aged between 18 and 21 the entry requirements are any of the following:
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design.
Mature students are welcome and there are flexible entry requirements for those over 21 based on an interview with the Admissions Tutor.
