Access to Higher Education
The Access to Higher Education course is for mature students who want to follow a new career. It is the most direct route to higher education for adults. If you are interested in changing or developing your career this course will provide you with the necessary skills required for further study and training. It is a nationally recognised qualification for entry into university awarded by the Open College Network.
The classes are small and friendly and offer you a second chance to learn. The course is designed to provide an alternative route to higher education for mature students who may not have the traditional qualifications such as GCSE, A Level or BTEC and may have been out of education for some time.
Units Studied
We offer the following areas of study: Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Environmental Studies, English Literature, Psychology Sociology and Study Skills.
How the course is assessed
There are a variety of assessment methods used on the course including assignments, coursework and presentations.
What next?
The course will give you the opportunity to progress and study for a range of degrees such as Biology, Criminology, Ecology, English, Environmental Science, Geography, Forensic Science, History, Psychology, Sociology. You may also wish to enter training for health related careers such as Midwifery, Nursing, Social Work or Teaching.
