Tapiwa Sibanda Sport

Sports-mad Tapiwa – known as Tap to his mates – started Leek College three years ago with limited GCSEs. But he left on a high this summer with a place at Derby University to study Sports Therapy.
Nineteen-year-old Tap, who loves playing football and basketball, but hates sitting exams, found his route to success through the College’s BTEC National Diploma in Sport.
He enrolled at college straight from Painsley RC High School in Cheadle. Now, he will be spending his summer working at the Alton Towers theme park to save for his studies at Derby University. And he was happy to learn that, for the first year of his course, he will study at the university’s Buxton campus, just a short commute from his home in Leek

The course is very practical, the work’s never boring and, best of all, it’s all coursework and, unlike A Levels, there’s no final exam at the end of it all.
I really enjoyed the course. The tutors are fantastic, I’ve made some great friends and I’ll be staying in touch with them because several of us have opted to carry on studying on the same course at Derby.
