Introduction
Beauty therapy is a thriving industry, dedicated to helping people look and feel their best. It offers a great range of opportunities leading to an interesting and satisfying career.
Course Content
This is a nationally recognised qualification awarded through VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust). It is designed to lead to the many varied career routes within the industry – beauty salons, luxury hotels, health spas, cruise ships or setting up your own business.
The course is run as a full time programme of study over 1 year with the option of selecting one of the 2 following pathways:

Common units include Promoting additional services and products to clients
and Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business. The relevant Health & Safety required for both routes will be included. Underpinning anatomy and physiology is also included.
All units must be completed to gain full qualification.
Entry Requirements
Students are selected by interview. At least two GCSEs at grade C or above with one being English Language. Although Level 2 Beauty Therapy is not an entry requirement you must be able to meet the required standards of performance and provide current evidence of your ability. Regular attendance and commitment is also essential.
Duration
The course is run as a full time programme of study over 1 year.
Assessment
After initial delivery of the units there is continual assessment of practical skills with oral questions and homework tasks these form the basis for a completed portfolio together with externally set end test papers.
Progression
Students who achieve NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy will be able to progress onto the Foundation Degree in Complementary Therapies, take additional Certificates or Diploma`s in Complementary Therapies or go straight into industry.
