Top Chinese TV Chef visits Buxton

Posted Date: 07/06/2012

The University of Derby, Buxton and Buxton College were delighted to welcome visiting top Chinese TV chef Mr He Liang recently.

Mr Liang, Director of the Beijing International Vocational Education School presented a master class in Chinese cookery to university and college students and staff.

During the master class Mr Liang demonstrated the art of making dough strings used in the presentation of Chinese dishes and showed students how to chop and carve vegetables; good enough for a 5 * hotel.

Students were delighted to watch and a hushed silence fell as Mr Liang finely chopped vegetables whilst blindfolded. Needless to say with a chef this proficient no fingers were lost.

The University of Derby, Buxton and Buxton College have a long standing relationship with the Beijing International Vocational Education School.

Mr Liang said “The visit to Buxton has been excellent. The standard and layout of the University and College kitchens is impressive. It is a marvellous experience to be able to visit the UK and Buxton.”
