Childminding Network
Leek and Moorlands Childminding Network is a local network of registered childminders who are self-employed, registered childminders who also work together as a team, supported and monitored by a network co-ordinator through regular visits, meetings, events, training, workshops and toy library provision.
The network is run and managed by Leek College of Further Education to develop registered childminding as a professional service and to provide access to flexible, quality childcare for students and for the wider community. Students at Leek College may be eligible for help with the cost of a childminding place.
Network childminders are committed to offering high quality play and learning opportunities to the children in their care and have access to a free mobile toy library service to help in this.
All Network childminders have undergone initial training and are committed to continuing professional development in order to ensure that they understand children's physical, social, emotional and educational needs. Network childminders make a commitment to continue to attend the equivalent of 3 days relevant training per year and are also committed to working towards the Diploma in Home-based Childcare (formerly the Certificate in Childminding Practice). Those who have achieved all units of the diploma, or hold another relevant level 3 qualification, can choose to apply for accreditation to enable them to offer funded sessions for 3 & 4 year olds, following the Foundation Stage Curriculum.
