Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
EMA is a weekly allowance available around 50% of 16-18 year olds whatever you choose to study after GCSEs.
The money is intended to help with the day-to-day costs when you follow ANY course over 12 hours at College, Sixth form or with a Work Based Learning Provider.
Payments are made weekly for attendance, and you can earn bonus payments for performance on your course.
For 2006-2007, you will be eligible if your household income is:
- up to £20,817 per year, you get £30 per week
- £20,818 - £25,521 per year, you get £20 a week
- £25,522 - £30,810 per year, you get £10 a week
